Meet PEACH

Peach is a beautiful white and brown Staffordshire in need of a patient and understanding adopter or foster. Peach initially presents as very shy, often pacing in her kennel until she begins to feel safe and secure. A recent interaction with a volunteer highlights her potential; with gentle persistence, the volunteer was able to leash her and bring her out to the play yard. The change in environment was remarkable. Within the catch pen, Peach started to relax, showing clear signs of calming down and becoming more comfortable. After exploring the yard and acclimating to her surroundings, she underwent a complete transformation, blossoming into a playful and attentive dog. Upon returning to her kennel, her excitement level was noticeably higher, and she became much more receptive to touch and handling. These observations suggest that with consistent outings and positive reinforcement, Peach has the capacity for a significant positive shift in her fear, anxiety, and stress (FAS). However, initial restraint during examinations is not well-received, underscoring her underlying nervousness, which is also evident in her shaking and whining within the kennel. Her behavior in playgroup mirrored this initial apprehension; she was nervous, allowed greetings but primarily stayed in a corner, not engaging in activities. She was noted as gentle dainty, social yet selective in her interactions. Adding to her story, her finder reported discovering Peach tethered to a fence on their farm property. They attempted to keep her but were unfortunately unable to due to a conflict with their resident dog. Peach needs a calm and stable environment with someone who can provide her with the time and patience to build her confidence and allow her sweet nature to fully emerge.
