Grateful Paws Dog & Cat Rescue

Grateful Paws Dog & Cat Rescue, Inc. was founded in January 2006 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and relocated to Central Florida in 2021. We are a No-kill, not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) animal rescue organization. Since we are a no-kill rescue, we are often subjected to more than just the basic care of an animal. Our Vet services are not free. We often (but not often enough) receive discounted vet care. But even so the bills add up especially when one of our rescues needs a lot of extra care. We are comprised ENTIRELY of volunteers with full-time careers and families. We do the rescue stuff (which is our true passion) after work and on the weekends. So if your phone calls or emails are not answered by a live person right away --- it's probably because we are at work and will call you when we get home.

Meet HOMER

This handsome guy was rescued from a Home Depot parking lot late one night; emaciated, filthy, burns to the pads of all four of his feet and a road burn on his hind end. But he is totally OK now! He was placed in a great home with an active female dog about his same size - but he has decided he would prefer a home with no other pets. He CAN be dog friendly, but when there is food or treats involved, he becomes reactive.  Better safe than sorry. So NOW, we are looking for a new forever home for Homer -- hopefully with strong dog savvy male.  He seems to respond better to a male presence. NO cats. He is great with people but he might be too big and clumsy for toddlers.  NOTE:  He is one very cool dog - BUT... he is not the type of dog you would casually stroll down the street with or take to a dog park.  He is reactive to dogs when he meets them on the street.  So a home with a fenced yard and some active playtime with his owner would suit him just fine.   He's neutered, vaccinated and chipped and is a total SWEETIE PIE - about 3 years old, 60 lbs. and a real goober. Likes to lean on you -- a very friendly and gentle demeanor - He is a big goof.  He needs basic training to stop him from jumping on you (or your mother!).  Adoption fee $250 Email or call if interested. [email protected] 954-462-8840 Thanks Please download an application from our website:  www.gratefulpaws.org NOTE: Adoption/rehoming fees are applied towards the vet bill: exam, blood tests, vaccinations, fecal, worming, spay/neuter, dental if necessary, and a microchip. There is rarely anything left over, but if that happens, the monies get applied to the next or previous pet - who may have had to have an x-ray, be groomed or have a dental.

Adoption Process
We are of the belief that there is a perfect home for every homeless pet. We just need the time to find it. Most of the animals in our care have been rescued, so we ensure their new homes will be better than the last. We ask every potential adoptee to complete an adoption application. The board reviews each application and the best home for the pet will be chosen. We arrange for a home visit; use a legal and binding adoption contract and charge an adoption fee that is applied towards the vet bill and care of the pet. In most cases the adoption fee does not cover our out -of-pocket costs so we rely upon the help of many to place the animal in its final home.

Look for other dogs for adoption!
