Southern Comfort Animal Rescue

Southern Comfort Animal Rescue, Inc. is 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that rescues and rehomes abused, unwanted and abandoned companion animals.Southern Comfort was founded in 2001 in Savannah, Georgia, to provide shelter and find temporary foster or permanent homes for pets left behind when troops in nearby Ft. Stewart's 3rd Infantry Division shipped out to Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2006, the organization moved to Glenwood, Georgia. Southern Comfort fills a critical need in Wheeler County, which has no other rescues or animal control. We specialize in physical, social and emotional rehabilitation of our rescues. All animals are examined, vaccinated, spayed or neutered and receive any and all medical treatment before being placed in carefully screened forever homes.Southern Comfort is a "no-kill" rescue and only euthanizes in cases of irremediable suffering or vicious and dangerous animals. We also work to raise public awareness of the plight of homeless animals and promote the benefits of adopting an animal in need through community outreach and education.

Meet Brandy

Brandy was found completely emaciated showing every bone she had.  She was dirty and in some desperate need for some TLC. After a few weeks of food and care Brandy became very grateful.  She is one of the sweetest girls ever.  It might take some time when meeting new people to come around but when she does she's extremely loving.  While Brandy has associated with a few other dogs, she is typically very dog aggressive and should be kept as an only dog unless professional training corrects this trait. Brandy has lots of love to give and would make a great addition to any home without pets/small children. As of 10/10/16 it's estimated Brandy is 5 years old.  Her heart worm status is yet to be known as she hasn't been vetted yet.  Brandy is house trained but may need a refresher course once in her new environment.  If interested in beautiful Brandy please submit an application to www.socorescue.com.

Adoption Process
we have an adoption questionnaire as well as a contract. The only fees we charge are those we are charged for the animal (vet fees)

Look for other dogs for adoption!
