Emmet County Animal Shelter

We live in a primarily rural area with a 50% poverty level and 40% non Caucasian/transient population. Due to the farmer mentality or disposable mentality of our area many pets find them selves homeless due to no fault of their own. We take in animals that are neglected, abandon, injured or just unwanted. We rehabilitate them and then re-home them through our adoption process. We have been solely foster based since 2010 and are currently building our new facility. We do it all with volunteers and we do it because we love it! The animals deserve better and we try our best to offer them that by doing what we can, when we can, the best we can, with what we have and with all our heart.

Meet Kip

***The first step in the adoption process is to complete the application at www.emmetcountyanimal*** Hi I'm Kip!  I know, I know....most handsome boy you have ever seen!  I've been hearing that a lot these days and it makes me feel pretty special but I'm way more than just eye candy!  I'm smart, I'm athletic, I'm loving and gosh darn it I can do cool tricks too!  Ok, ok maybe I'm not all that smart and I'm not sure I know any tricks except tricking all the cat lovers to think I'm the most beautiful boy they ever did see!  I'm really kinda derpy and maybe even a little klutzy.  I do love to wrestle with the other cats in my room and I think hanging on the catio at the shelter and watching the birds is pretty fun.  Oh speaking of birds....that brings me to my back story.  I think I might have been dumped!  I know right!  How could that have happened to me?  Beautiful, not so smart but oh so sweet and loving me on the streets trying to defend myself and find sustenance. Oh whoa is me!  Thankfully, I ended up on the back deck of a nice lady that feeds kitties and she noticed that I didn't move for two whole days through a snow storm and a very windy night.  So she called the shelter and the nice lady came and got me because as she said "clearly this guy isn't made to survive out here!"  How did she know????  Well never mind that.  I'm Kip and I'm so pretty.  And playful and sweet.  I'm just over a year old, neutered, up to date on vaccinations, FeLV/FIV negative and microchipped.  I'm ready to go home so if you have some playful cats or maybe dogs that would be cool.  Or maybe some kids cuz they look like fun too!  Oh and I know I look like a million bucks but they tell me all the cats and kittens here are adopted for a free will donation to approved applicants.  Crazy huh!

Adoption Process
application, adoption fees for dogs/puppies start at $150-$300. Cats/kittens are free will offering adoptions. Contracts for adoptions must be signed. All animals (unless too young) are altered prior to adoption. If not altered a deposit is paid and given back plus a rebate after the alteration has been performed.
