FRANKIE IS A COURTESY POST - IF INTERESTED, EMAIL INFO@PETEY&FURENDS.ORG Name: Frankie Sex: Male Estimated Age: About 2 years old Best Guess for Breed: Domestic Long Hair Mix Weight: About 11 pounds Good With: People and other cats. He lives in a foster home with other cats. Story: Frankie is a Domestic Long Hair Mix from a cat colony in the Stronghold neighborhood in NE DC. When a rescue came through doing a TNR campaign, Frankie managed to avoid capture. Over the past two years many cat lovers in the area put food out for him but his current foster won his trust and were able to bring him indoors where he quickly took to the new environment. Even though he was brought indoors prior to being neutered he did not demonstrate any aggressive behaviors towards other cats or need to mark territory. His first trip to the vet showed he is a healthy cat with no health issues. In addition, he was microchipped and scheduled to be neutered on August 23. What my foster says: Frankie is a shy, independent cat but prefers to spend nights cuddled up near a person. He might cuddle up against a leg, a hip, or even near the head. He enjoys play (mostly cat dancers), scratching cardboard scratchers, jumping to high heights, and being brushed. Brushing is a very important activity for Frankie. With his longer coat and his time on the streets he had developed a bunch of small mats that needed to be slowly worked out. He is sensitive when those mats get hit with the brush so it is best to ensure knots don’t become mats by regularly brushing his coat. He is a good groomer so brushing him is not the only source of keeping his coat clean. He just deserves a little extra help for being such a well mannered cat. While Frankie is shy, his shyness is only due to everything being so new. He just needs a nice space to retreat when he gets overwhelmed. Whether it be a closet, under a bed, or another secure location where he can be left alone to calm down. Frankie is still adjusting to indoor life and tends to sleep during the day and then become active in the evening.
