Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society

PAWS is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to saving Philadelphia’s homeless, abandoned, and unwanted animals. PAWS is Philadelphia's largest no-kill shelter and is working to make Philadelphia a city in which every healthy and treatable pet is guaranteed a home. Through its adoption locations, special events, and foster care network, PAWS finds loving homes for thousands of animals each year.In March 2010, PAWS opened a low-cost, high-volume spay/neuter and wellness clinic serving pet owners and rescues in an effort to keep pets healthy and reduce the homeless pet population. Located in the Grays Ferry section of the city, the Clinic serves pet owners who have difficulty affording or do not have access to basic veterinary care (sterilization, vaccinations, treatments for upper respiratory infections/parasites/fleas, etc.) and rescue organizations that need affordable spay/neuter surgery and basic veterinary care to carry out their lifesaving work. Support for PAWS funds lifesaving initiatives including adoption and foster care programs, spay/neuter surgeries, low-cost vaccinations, and other efforts, all of which help reduce and will ultimately eliminate the unnecessary killing of Philadelphia's animals. Donations to PAWS are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.

Meet Brimley

Adopt this Chunky Cuddle Bug! Brimley is a cuddly couch potato whose favorite place in the world is curled up on his human's lap or napping on the sofa. He's a bit on the heavier side, which just means there's more of him to love--and there's little risk of him jumping up onto counters. Plus, he's extremely friendly with strangers, and falls in love with anyone who gives him a good cheek brushing or chin scritch. He's not on any meds, just a special low-carb diet for his diabetes, which is controlling his condition well for now. It's possible his diabetes could be managed fine with just diet long-term, although there's also a chance he might need to go back on insulin at some point in the future--fortunately, he was never too bothered by the injections. Either way, this big boy is incredibly sweet (pun intended), and would love a cozy home where he can snuggle and nap to his heart's content. Age: 14 years How I came to PAWS: Owner surrender Animal ID#: A53029 I am not at the shelter. Please email my foster parent at [email protected] to learn more about me!
